if the u.s. pulls out of iraq ,stops supporting isreal and pretty much leaves the middle east to themselves do you believe radical islam will no longer pose a threat to national security or world stability?

I think the real question is..
If Sept. 11 never happened would we even be in Iraq?

I think that you are right on target..
I have seen a lot of conservatives on this site say that they think that if we pull out of Iraq then we "lost the war"
But the only way to WIN is to pull out at least partially and let the Iraqi's govern themselves

No, I think fundamental Islamists will always be a threat to the United States. But I also think our policy in the Middle East is not working and is costing more resources and lives than we are benefitting from. I disagree with the idea of just abandoning Israel but I think we need to re-assess our relationship with them.
I also think that our military presence alone is increasing the number of Islamic fundamentlaists. I think its ridiculous to think that leaving the region is going to bring the fundamentalists to America. They have already proven that they are capable of hitting embassies in Africa and has hit our allies in Europe. The bottom line is, they will always be a threat but are we just throwing grease on a fire if we stay there?

There would still be some nuts around, but there always will be. Terrorism is not new, it's been around for a long time. I'd prefer to live my life out in the open and take the small risk, than mobilize the US for war, always be afraid, and give up my civil liberties.
