As already reported...they are no longer distinctive. the "Hex" in Hexane means six and pertains to the kind of carbons interior the compound. Hexane molicules could have somewhat some distinctive shapes, yet all of them have 6 Carbons and 14 Hydrogens. There are distinctive shapes on Hexane molecules (referred to as "isomers"), with the least confusing shape referred to as n-Hexane.
