Okay, so here is my new apartment in Kitami in Hokkaido

http://www.jmedia-w.co.jp/1dk-1ldk/arufabiru.html

I know the cost of things is different to Tokyo, Osaka nado but is this a pretty good apartment? Those that are living in Japan at the moment, what are your measurements (of your rooms lol)
I think I got it cheaper than advertised, which is cool but any thoughts would be great. Cheers ^_^

Looks like a nice place!
A bit old maybe but still it's made out of concrete and not a wodden apartment so I would say it's an OK deal.
Nothing to write home about maybe but it looks nice.

The living room / Kitchen looks pretty big which is always a good thing. Also no key money? (Shiki kin)
That's pretty cool. (I noticed the parkings free as well! Nice!)
I've looked at a few places when I was living in Japan and never found a place that didn't take shikikin. But maybe things are different in Hokkaido and Tokyo.

The price looks reasonable for Hokkaido. My friend lives in a fairly new 2LDK close by Sapporo and it's 50000+ so I would say yours is not bad.
(In Tokyo however your new home will cost at least 80000.)

Looks like a great little apartment, its definitely small, and that probably will take some getting used to if you aren't used to it, the price is awesome!

To maximize your space, I would seriously think about sleeping 'Japanese style' on futon, that way you can store them in the futon closet and during the day have more space in the bedroom for living. Hokkaido from what I have read does get pretty cold in the winter so expect your heating bill to be higher than Osaka/Tokyo since you will need to run the heat more out of the year. If you don't have one already, look for a sayonara sale for a kotatsu as they are perfect for nice cold days.

That looks like a great place, and if you got it for cheaper than the 33,000, that is even greater. It is roomy, and if it is for one person, you are really lucky. A bit small for two people, but a 6 jo and 8 jo is big for one person (IN JAPAN). It's a shoe box in the states, but by Japanese standards, it is big. You are very lucky. Looks like it will also get a lot of sun, so it could get a little hot during the summer, but since you are in Hokkaido, summer won't be that bad.

Good show.

When I lived alone, I lived in a 2LDK, the rooms were all 6 jo. It was a really old building and it was owned by a friend so I got mine for 45,000 a month. The great thing was that there was no chonaikai in the building so I could keep to myself. This was about 13 years ago in Kagoshima.

Not bad at all. You have a place to buy kero right there, so that is handy. I used to pay 70000 for a place about the same size in Tokyo. At one time I used to have a place in Sendai that was actually smaller than that for 28000.

Looks like an okay place as long as it's clean and location works for you.
