They're lying today about Iraq, Iran, 9/11, Saddam, Ben Laden...

Governments (and people) try to put their actions in the best light but It is unlikely they will succeed in covering up a big lie for a long time. Too many people are witness to the actual events. Even closely held secrets eventually get exposed. We are now finding out what the USSR secret police file said about the cold war era. I believe history books are more truthful about the past than politicians are about current events.

98% of what we have heard or read about WWII I belive is true. Of course the more varied authors you read the closer you will get to the truth.

Read German, English, America, Russian, French, Italian, Polish and Belgian authors and you will be a wise person on WW II matters.

That is the advantage of belonging to a free Western society, total freedom of information.

I would agree with you if you lived in an oriental ex communist democratic republic, but that is not the case.

What one author does not tell you, the others will.

For example English authors may not tell you that shortly after Germany surrendered, agents belonging to the fearsome British SAS (Special Airforce Service) tracked down Nazi SA members, that were known asassins of English soldiers and jews and speedily executed them.

Personally I would have done the same.

In reference to Iraq, American intelligence believed that Saddam had microbiological weapons or WMD, due that he actually had used microbiological gas to assassinate thousands of Kurds in the north of Iraq.
Further still, Saddan did everithing posible to make the world believe that he had both of these weapons when he prohibited UN inspectors to go into iraq and verify if he did or did not have them.

18 UN Resolutions asked of him to collaborate with the inspectors, without results. What did he expect??, 100 more United Nations Resolutions?

What do you not believe about Bin Laden?. Everything has been proved (read Ali Mohamed - Internet)

Don´t turn into a world conspiracy waco, read reputable authors.

You shouldn't believe anything unless its from a trusted and/or original source.

As regards believing whats in "the history book", that will only be as good or as trustworthy as the research and sources that the writer used.

I don't know on what basis you say that the anonymous "they" are lying to us about the Middle East. I really hope that you are not yet another conspiracy nutter (hope everyone saw the Conspiracies documentary on UK BBC at the weekend, which shot to pieces just about every conspiracy theory regarding 9/11) who does believe everything they read.

Finally, don't expect your government to tell you the absolute truth about everything. Propaganda exists in every walk of life and for very good reason in some cases.

Did you have something specific in mind regarding WW2 ?
