Are men more racist than women?

Question

I get the impression that men are more racist than women, especially here in Yahoo!Answers. Every single time I've come across a question or answer with racist under- or overtone, it turns out to be by a male.
I've also noticed, in the people around me, that men tend to make more racist remarks than women.

Is my observation correct or is it just pure coincidence? And if it is correct, what, in your opinion, is the reason?

I've run into plenty of racist answers here from women. (I'm tempted to name some of them, but that wouldn't be right!) I don't think the problem is the racist tendencies of males versus the racist tendencies of women. I think the problem is the tendency for a male to be more vocal and overt about it. I may be wrong, but it simply seems in general here that more men make aggressive and extreme answers in general, regardless of the topic.

That said, I think the racism issue is something that is parallel to stereotypes of men and women. It's a whole other category, yet it carries some of the same problems. Basically, what I am trying to say is that a lot of men here are NOT racist. And a lot of women are... but of course, most of them are not. It really is a matter of individuals, more so than a gender thing. Some people here are bad, and some of them are good. Categorizing "men" in general as being more racist is like categorizing "blacks" in general as being criminal, or "hispanics" as being lazy. It is a stereotype, and it is not a fair or accurate one, because it makes assumptions about a group of people in general that are not universal.

I mean no offense to you, of course. I think you asked this question with the best of intentions, and it was a fair enough question to ask! But I disagree with your assessment. That said, I strongly frown upon the racists who do prowl around here, man or woman!

This is coming from a female point of view, a male's might be more interesting. I think that men are mainly more open about dissing other people, women may think racist things and say them around those they trust, but men don't seem to realize that they could be offending people, and are more likely to just blurt out whatever they are thinking at the moment.

The sad part is...no sexist remarks intended...Men are the first ones to make war.

If it were a racist woman, you wouldn't get any reasoning past them because they stand by their man. So it's the man.

So yes...it is the male species that make these remarks. I should know because my boyfriend is prejudice...which is very sad. He claims he isn't but I don't care about his close-minded remarks on Mexicans or gay people (because I have friends who are Hispanic and I have gay friends).

I am more open minded than anything else when it comes to these things and I'm a girl.

Men who are racist are more vocal about it however there are many , many more interracial couples involving white women and black men as opposed to white men and black women , I only say that because it seems to make your question a toss up because men are just men regardless of color. I don't know if that means black women don't find white men attractive or because of racism on the part of either party. Good question , I'm afraid I've just led to more questions so I'm calling it a toss up between men and women and who is more racist .

In my personal life, I'd have to say it is women are more racists. I believe this is because men play a lot of sports together with all races and to be successful you have to get past the race thing and just play for sport or fun.
My ex wife was the most racist person I had ever met, maybe that's why we are exes?

It is true do you not remember how many black slaves were raped by white men during slavery in the USA?? I happen to know many white males that have tried unsuccessfully to get at me, and one of them even wore a confederate flag SOME Black people are ignorant they think just because a white person likes them means they are not racist... no watch the movie QUEEN(true story) white man had sex with slave woman had a baby by him, and he denounced the baby as his own.... how in the world is that love?? "Racism" is caused by a natural tribalism present in humans - they naturally want to see their kind go on. Because modern society tries so hard to enforce that race doesn't exist, people often lose sight of that very simple fact.

Why men are more racist? Because men in many cultures are seen as the protectors of the family, and therefore in association, their tribe.

Yes, I'm black and if I wanted to make a friend with a white person, I know it's more likely to be with a female. Just based on observation, they seem to have better morals socially, and are more willing to take people as people. White men just see color and treat you accordingly. That's just how it is.

I am not defending men or racism of any kind. I think it is all scum that should be scraped off the face of the Earth like bug scum off a windshield. It has been my observation that men are more outspoken racist they are the hate club organizers. But women are just as bad only more devious and sneaky. In general they are a bunch of old, fat, saggy, big mouth, trailer trash, prostitutes who like to shoot off their mouth. I think that the racism is equally spread out between men and women, but men have bigger mouths about expressing it.

They always seem to think they have to prove just how "manly" they are all the time...even in the most absurd of ways.
