Aside from the obvious answers, if you get wood flooring, make sure that you get Bamboo flooring instead of regular wood flooring. Bamboo grows much faster than wood and can be harvested in only 4 or 5 years. Trees typically take at least 10 years to harvest.

Change to CFL lights bulbs (Compact Fluorescent Lamps) for home lighting, especially outside security lights. In the car, keep tires inflated to the right pressure (tire store can help you there) and drive gently... no rabbit starts at the green light, etc, accelerate smoothly. Plant a tree in the yard, use half the laundry detergent amount the bottle calls for. Wash in cool or cold when possible, line dry when you can instead of the dryer. Lots of little changes can make a big difference!

I plugged all my pc equipment into a power strip. I can turn it off with a single flick of one switch when I'm not using the machine and that turns off all the little "light draw" transformers for the speakers, the printer, and so on.

I use bio-degradable soaps for everything!

To kill mosquitoes -and I get them pretty heavy in the summer- I use a non-toxic spray made from Eucalyptus oil. It kills right now on contact but won't harm me -you can actually eat it!- or my little dogs.

I have also planted a small garden and grow stuff in it. It's fun and I don't have as much waste on rotted veggies -I give stuff away. But plant ONLY what you'll use! Oh yeah ... the water from my clothes washer is pumped into the big sink and reused to water my plants. I'm NEVER out of plant water!!

Most of my standard screw-based lamps are using fluorescent bulbs.

The list is endless!!
