If you can break this habit, do it. You'll have to be strong to do it. My 3-year old still insists his mom sleep with him. This drives me insane because I've been sleeping alone for months. I'm a much bigger baby than he is. Do what you can handle. Some parents such as my wife won't stand for the crying a pleading... but when my wife is at work on graveyard shift, I have no problem putting the kids down, and they behave. It's only when she is home that they cry for her. So it is a habit and it can be broken.

well the best thing to do is to slowly stop this habbit. 3 years old is not that old for still wanting mom or dad by them when they go to bed, but i realize this must be difficult for you now with a new baby. switch off between you and your husband and at first just read a short story or sing a lullaby to her before she goes to bed. limit your time you spend at night by her. soon, cut back on the time until you can get to the point where you are pretty much just tucking her in and leaving the room. don't suddenly stop your routine... that would be tramatic to your daughter, just slowly cut back and she may not even notice it. she might get upset, but use the 'big girl' speech and she'll eventually come around. good luck!

Well yeah, She is ONLY 3 she is a BABY for goodness sake.... Sit with her, read her a book, Most kids want their parents with them till they fall asleep until they are out of the first grade or so.... Time to put on the big girl panties, and be the Mommy... That's part of the job cup cake

She's a baby! One of you can get her to sleep while the other tends to the baby. What's the big deal!!!
