I was giving my cat a bath last night, and as I was getting his towel, he escaped from my grasp, only to jump right up on my computer monitor, soaking wet. LOTS of water got inside for sure, and I unplugged it and turned it upside down overnight to drain. This morning i flipped it back over and plugged it back in and it turned on, but the picture is shaky and there are lines moving through it. Can it be fixed or would it be cheaper just to buy a new monitor?

my thought is that it has not had enough time to dry out.

You turned it on too soon but you may still have a chance. Leave it in a warm dry room and give it about a week to evaporate the water that has seeped into the tiny crevices. Turning it on only increases the risk of shorting circuitry. If you could open it up and apply a warm hair dryer to it the water may evaporate sooner, however remember that whatever water is in there can only evaporate through the small vents and without adequate airflow it may take some time. Place it up high in your warmest room.

Your pretty gutsy even plugging it back in after water entered its case. It could still be moist inside. Let it dry longer... but water damage to a monitor usually means/warrants replacement. Of the monitor I mean... not the cat!

Most likely, it can't be fixed (depending on whether or not your monitor was on at the time). And if it able to be fixed, it will probably be about the same price as buying a new monitor.

Give it few days to get dry from the inside it will go back to normal.

Check your warranty. Take it back to where you bought and see if they have service or replacement because that monitor is out for the count!
