First of all, congrats on 1 year!
Well, like you said he really likes music so you could definitely work with that. So if I were you that's definitely something I'd run with.
But if you didn't know much about rap music, you could rad his CD's see what he likes, maybe get an idea from there.

Anything, or a kiss with a i love you so very much. It is not the cost of the gift, it is the thought, adn even a loveing thought can be someones dearest gift. Even just cook him a great homemade dinner,and let him know how you feel about him. Just something simple, why not try to get back to the days where things were simple, but really showd someone how your felt about them.

How bout concert tickets to a rap concert? If not, I think a romantic dinner well planned always works.

If you have your heart set on buying him music, why not buy something romantic and maybe very different to your normal styles of music? Or even better, invite him along to a live performance?
