The Earth's atmosphere is composed of about 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen. The dinitrogen molecule (N2) has a molecular weight of 28 whereas the diozygen molecule (O2) has a molecular weight of 32. The carbon dioxide molecule (CO2) has a molecular weight of 44, which is much denser than the main constituents of the atmosphere. Ergo, carbon dioxide will not rise but will fall.
