We've all heard stories of knights of yore, and in this modern era we get the idea that there is something special about a black knight. What's the original story of the black knight?

Simple pragmatism. Bare armor required more maintenance, a squire. Black knights were soldiers for hire, the armor painted black reducing the need for maintenance, in an opponent's visor more difficult to see while trading blows if unhorsed. Probably where the term ' Free Lance ' came from. Not a part of a regular military body.

The story started in Greenland back in the 1500's when people where under a spell by Magic by Aliens. They told the story of how batman came down to middle earth and took over Springfield. Then after the huge battle was over people begain to call batman the black knight because he was so tall and would only work at night. People back then thought he was a vampire because he only worked at night, but really he was only scared of the sun. And that is what i did during summer vacation.

From what I understand of the Arthurian myths, Sir Lancelot (King Arthur's Best friend and the Lover of his wife) was originally reffered to as the Black Knight, because his armor was special and of a darker metal then was tradisional for that time.

Related to Arthurian myths methinks. I remember reading a short story about a knight meeting a black knight in a "knights-o-round-table" book.
