I mean filthy rich and not 1-2 grand more a month richer.

Why or why not?

Doubtful because with more wealth comes a whole lot of other problems or worries that one hasn't even had before.

There are two sides for this question.

I know many people who are fifthly rich, travel, donate, etc with their money and they seem pretty happy. But then again, I see others with tons of money, and they are lonely. Though money can buy you anything you want, I believe it can't truely buy happiness. With being filthy rich, people come after you. Then there is an issue of balance, you gave them more than us, etc. I think it becomes an issue of happiness and envy. Money is not an empty pit, one day it will run out.

I could go both ways, in many ways I would love to be rich, other's.. I love just being in the middle :)

If I am filthy rich, I think with my immense wealth, I'll travel and do something for the genuinely needy people. That will indeed make me happier than just having to work for paying my bills. I will be doing something for a greater cause.

That reminds me of playing lottery for tomorrow. Few millions are up for grabs... Wish me luck so that I can make some difference with my little contribution.

As soon as you acquire substantially more money you begin to live that lifestyle and then you begin to wish for substantially more than that.
You can never become more happy with more money. You must learn to be happy with what you have. Remember when you got your first car. "If only I could have that car, I'd be happy". Then soon that wore off and you set your sites on a better car. Money has exactly the same effect. If you learn to live with what you have and be happy with that you will be much better off. Let me give you another example. You have some friends right now. Right? suppose you became filthy rich and moved to the Riviera. Would your friends fit in? If they couldn't afford that life style would you pay their way? For how long?
You see it's not about how much you have, its how well you accept what you have.

A couple of grand each month would be nice and would certainly make my life easier; I'm not so sure about real "filthy-rich" wealth. I've known a few people in my life who were very well off, and they seemed to live in fear of either having it taken away, or (far worse) having a loved one kidnapped and held for ransom. I'm not sure it's worth that kind of fear to have lots of money.

I think I would be happier for awhile...filthy rich people tend to get bored though and I think a lot of them just don't realize that's the problem. I would do something to keep myself occupied so that I wouldn't get depressed like so many loaded people do...

But yeah, it would sure be nice to never have to worry over a bill again.

I think I would be happier, or more to the point, less worried/stressed, as work would not longer be an issue. But having said that, I think you would have to "earth" yourself in some way - perhaps trading in a paying job for volunteer work or something like that. Either way, rich or poor, all of us experience problems.

Yes, but not because of the money. I'd be happier because I'd have freedom from debt, freedom from the cesspool that is my job - I work at walmart, and deal with the dregs of society...

I really want to travel and see the world, and having financial freedom would make that very easy.

I think being rich would make it hard to find love though.

There's no assurance that money can give me real happiness. A lot of filthy rich people aren't happy or contented with what they have. I'd rather have just enough money and live a happy and contented life with my special someone.

No, I would NOT be happier...I have everything that I need and my wants are really not relevent to live.
I am on S. S. disability and have enough to live every month and to buy my meds etc...I am rich in so many other ways that money could never buy me.

No because after you have nothing hard to work for like paying off bills, your dreams etc.then what else is there to do but spend your money. people who have money try to have power in order to have control people with little less money have the control without needing the power. Being rich has alot of responsibilities. Happiness comes in small doses, money can't buy you love. it can't make people do something out of there own heart to do something for you.
