Cleaning old apps MAY help, but likely you have a cluttered REGISTRY which is PROPERLY solved witha full Operating System reload from scratch. Pain in the neck, but WinXP just simply gets too cluttered from application install/remove/re-install cycles. You probably installed one or more applications back then which now have fragments running in the background. You MAY be able to band-aid the situation by running MSCONFIG from the "Run..." box, but you will be basically flying blind when you turn crypritc named stuff off.

I suggest you backup your documents, format the disk, and re-install the OS.

3-things to start, as stated earlier, delete files you don;t need, delete cookies, temp files, 2-run a good spyware/virus checker(make sure you haven't got something slowing you down) 3-if you can? add more memory, easy to do, but does cost. You can check your start up programs to see if anything is running that doesn't need to be or taking too much memory.

You can run disk fragment and that will help get rid of a lot of things that you don't use anymore. Also you might want to run a spyware software to remove any spyware that is on your computer. These should help speed up your computer.

Yes, you can go through all of the files on your computer and delete the ones that you don't need. Also, if you have a lot of music or software installed on your computer, that may cause it to go slower than it should.
