For school we have to do a project over someone in the book. I decided to make a poster over Jem Finche's character traits the ones i have are:
corageous
good-willed
driven
brave
mature
obiedient
smart
polite
and understanding.
Can anyone else think of any others and a reason why you think this? Im not cheating im just making sure i have pretty much all of them. Thank You!

Courageous AND brave?

I've always thought one of his outstanding characteristics (besides compassion, which is a biggie with him) is his intellectual sophisitication.

He has a genuine intellectual curiosity, and likes to think deeply about things.

He's an independent thinker -- think, for example, of his attempts to make sense out of "good families" and his hypothesis that "some Finch back in Egyptian days must have learned how to read".

Gee, I haven't read it in a long time. Time to reread it! I've always LOVED that book.

Other traits: well, sensitive. With Scout, I'd have to say Dictatorial.

Imaginative. (as with the plays they do with Dill).

Adventurous -- liking to sneak out at night, for instance.

He is also naive - he makes fun of Boo in the beginning, he doesn't understand Dolph Raymond (the Coca-Cola guy), and builds the snowman that looks like the fat neighbor, Mr. Avery.

He is also a good teacher - for Dill and for Scout (especially when he invites Walter over for dinner).

Most of the time he is a good roll model for Scout and Dill.

i'm reading that book now, and those sound pretty good. jem is also daring, but you already have brave, so i don't know if you want to use that one.

curious -- she's always asking Atticus questions about what is going on with the case.
Friendly and kind -- she makes friends with Boo.
Tomboyish -- she doesn't like to wear dresses.
