what can I do to stop this

uninstalled drivers and rebooted seems to help cd-rom but cd-rw is still showing cd just removed not new one put in. what else can I do

im not exactly sure what problem your having but you might try uninstalling the drivers for your drives and rebooting your computer it will find and reinstall the drivers when you restart that might solve your problem.

Check Windows device manager to make sure none of your hardware, particularly your DVD drives, has a yellow exclamation point (!) next to it.
If not, I would recommend uninstalling and reinstalling drivers for these drives. This is also done in Device Manager. right click on the device and choose uninstall.
