What are 5 challenges facing developing countries in Africa?

food production despite poor land conditions
strong political divisions and civil warfare
drought
various epidemics ie AIDS

there are way more than 5 challenges, but here's some i remembered....

1. Instability of the Region
2. Poor Health Care
3. Little to No education funding
4. Few Natural Resources
5. Terrible Infrastructure and City Planning

I would say these five and not in any particular order:
1. Corruption & Unstable Governments
2. Health Care
3. Education
4. HIV/Aids Crisis
5. Inefficient Market Economy
There are many more but working on these for starters would go a long way to improving the quality of life for Africans.

The main challenge is perhaps corruption at all levels all the rest will follow from this:
Poor education,
Lack of health care
Over population
Paucity of good infrastructure
Religeous intolerance by all faiths
Tribal rivalry

corruption...............African countries have received millions from U.S and Europe but they are still poor as they are and another important challenge is the lack of modern technologies needed to make optimum use of the natural resources which are lean

because they kill one yet another, prepare their toddlers to be squaddies, and spend all the help money we provide them on palaces, helicopters, bee-pores and skin coats (heavily!) and AK47 factories. They rape toddlers to make "the evil spirits of AIDS depart their bodies to inhabit the virgins' body". Then they convey Bono on from level left to blame the evil West for "no longer doing sufficient". and so that they pick to come back the following to make a quickly dollar as a replace of finding out their own issues .
