I really hate that term "does this sound gay" and of course any variation of it. That term implies that there is something wrong with homosexuality. Please, please, please, try to stop using it.

You are not a homosexual for wanting to protect a friend. If you were wanting to have sex with your friend that would make you a homosexual.

Tell your friend that you are concerned about his/her safety and as a friend you want him/her to stick around. Tell him/her that you know they would do the same.

Good luck to you.

No this does not sound "gay" at all. In fact it is very noble of you to look out for your friend. Maybe hang out one afternoon and in the course of discussion, just bring up that you heard that this "gang" was bothering someone else, and how it bothers you and that from here on you have got his back. He may actually be relieved to hear it. There is NOTHING wrong with being a good friend. Cheers to you !!

First of all, a statement cannot be "gay." You are showing your lack of vocabulary skills and your bigotry by using such a hateful word as a pejorative adjective. Can't you pick something more appropriate?

You are a good friend if you are helping to prevent him from getting hurt. Tell a parent or the police for even more help.

That is so not gay. If it's protecting someone, you gotta do it, right? xD Just because you protect your friend doesn't mean you're attracted to him..

It would sound homosexual to really stupid and shallow people though.

I'm flattered you feel that would be a 'gay' action, because that sounds like the right thing to do in your situation. If they think it's 'gay', then they are ignorant, and you can't help that... only them.

That's called being a good friend. Tell him you are his friend and you don't want to loose him because he's like a brother to you.

No, it doesn't sound gay.

Just tell him straight out (pun intended) that you don't want him to get beat up by the gang.
