If you stay longer than 3 month a country, you have to apply for a visa extension at your next consulate or embassy. Otherwise, go to the website of your country's embassy in Taiwan.

There are three ways to do it.
1. Have someone sponsor you. (Difficult.)
2. Go out and get a visitor's Visa every 2 months.
3. Work at a bushiban (cram school) and they will give you a VISA good for 1 year. (BE CAREFUL! Make sure that they are a good school.)
4. Study Chinese at a cram school that will handle all your VISA work for you. (again, BE CAREFUL! Make sure that they are a good school.)

Why I tell you to be careful is that there are MANY good school here. But there are also some schools that will LIE!!! to you, and not care if you get thrown out of the country of in prison. They will keep lying to you and get you to work for them as long as they can. Then they will hand you your passport, after your time limit has expired, and tell you to leave the country.
I know this sounds horrible, but I think it's best that you know about these people so that you can avoid them. And if it happens to you, go to foreign affairs or the police.

Hi,
It really depends on the purpose of your visit. You can take short trips ever two months to HK and return if you are a visitor or you can get 2 x 2 month extentions on your visa here if you can give the Immigration a good reason on why you need the extention. For full information on Visas and other info please go through this site:
