if it doesn't turn off it might be frozen to reset it hold down the menu and center button down at the same time and hold it there for about 5-8 seconds you should see the apple icon for a couple seconds then your home screen will come back up. then you should be able to turn it off

did you turn the hold button on and forget about it? try turning it off by holding down the play button or get a new ipod completely

let a song play for 15 seconds and then press and hold the play button. if it doesn't turn off, go to apple.com and go to the support section. it should help you.

hold down the "select button" (the circular middle one) and the "menu Button" for about 3 seconds until the iPod restarts...dont worry you will still have everything on there (nothing will change)

Plug the recharger into the computer & ur ipod and rechsrge it. then try to turn it off agen.

you could do two things: 1. let the battery drain until empty(recomended) or 2. pop the screen out and take your ipod apart
