My fiance and i want to get a dwarf hamster so i have been researching on the internet. I just wanted to know if anyone has any first hand experiences i should know about or any tips to keep our hamster happy once we get him? are their any toys your hamster has that he enjoys? any foods? please let me know, i want some first hand experience to go with the facts.

thanks for the answers! we dont quite have the space for a larger animal though, hence the dwarf hamster. ill be sure to scope out which ones seem more even temperd, because i dont feel like getting bit if i dont have to.

we ended up buying a teddybear hamster, and he seems a little stressed out yet (he put up a fight getting into the box so we could take him home. but he seems to be doing better now. we did get bit once each, but we chalked it up to stress. ill follow all your tips, and ill let you guys pick the best answer, since you all gave such great tips, and i never make decisions well

If the hamster is biting you should return him and wait for a younger hamster to come in, this way the hamster will get used to you and NOT bite anyone. gl!
