If your radio and other accessories are wired to the ignition switch properly, there is no battery drain unless you leave the switch in accessory position to listen to the radio when the engine not running. Properly wired accessories require the ignition switch to be turned on.

Depending on the battery life, abusing of the radio when the car is off ( several hours ) can drain the battery to the point that can prevent a successful start.

The type of radio (stock vs. custom system) plays a role on it.

If the radio is playing, then it is. If the radio goes off when you turn off the ignition then its not. My truck will allow the radio to play, and run the windows up and down with the key off. However, when I open a door then it all goes off.

I have a 2003 FORD EXPEDITION after engine is off ( on these newer years), mine goes off automatically after 15 minutes so it won't drain the battery.

No, but there is a small draw on the battery from any number of things in new cars.
