1. Giants-With Bonds back to his usual self and Roberts and Vizquel in front of him getting on base, as well as the great young pitching staff, they have the greatest chance

2. Dodgers-Greatest chance to defeat the Giants

3. Padres-Defending champion

4. Arizona-Too old and too young to be consistent

5. Colorado-As always in the cellar

Diamondbacks look like the favorites for sure. They have some pretty solid starters, and with Goldschmidt putting up MVP type numbers they have a good offense as well. Very solid team, not great but probably good enough. The Dodgers are my second choice. I don't think they will finish second. They will either make a huge push and win the division, or they will stay stagnant and remain cellar dwellars. Most talented team by far. They're 8 and a half back at this point, but they can easily make up that ground if they get any sort of production from Ethier and Kemp. Giants have the next best shot. It really just depends on if they can get healthy and how their rotation pitches. Other than Bumgarner they have been downright terrible. Rockies have plenty of offense but i don't think that their pitching staff has what it takes to actually win this division. I don't think the Padres have enough of anything to be more than a .500 at best team.

1 - Diamondbacks - randy jonson will have an amazing final year and lead the d-backs into the playoffs. Their offense is young and full of pop. They could be last years tigers.

2 - Dodgers - the pitching is deep and actually underrated at this point. But they have absolutely NO power or consistent run producers.

3 - Padres - see: dodgers

4 - Rockies - they could actually sneak up on everybody and take this division if they want to, it's very weak. They became a legitimate offense with the addition of speedy Willy Taveras, but they still lack a true consistent ace in the staff.

5 - Giants - now here are some has beens. Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum will be fun to watch...but other than that?

1. Giants - The reason they unseat the two-time defending champ Padres is because they stole San Diego's manager.
2. Padres - The talent is still there - a healthy Peavy could win 20 games.
3 &4 Dodgers & Diamondbacks - Both teams are right on there with Padres - all three teams will win between 75-85 games.
5. Rockies - Good young bats in Carroll and Holliday, but just can't put it all together...again.

I think the whole division is wide open, but I would think the Dodgers and Giants are the front runners. If just a few of the Dodgers rookies from last season make big improvements, they will the division. The Dodger have a good rotation that was made better with the addition of Schmidt and have one-two punch with Broxton and Saito in the bullpen. The Giants should contend, but Zito and Schmidt are comparable, so no real upgrade there and most of their hitters are still on the downside of their careers. I would say Dodgers, but it will be a open division for most of the year.

DODGERS (what can I say they have a better team)

Diamondbacks (I think this year might be a turnaround)

Padres (will once again get beat by the dodgers in the bottom of the ninth)

Giants (I hate bonds and the whole franchise but the rockies have never have a good team)

Rockies (need I say more)

1) Dodgers- great starting pitching and good enough offense
2) Giants- good starting pitchers in Cain and Zito, but who else? And their bullpen is terrible, and offense will struggle with nobody besides Bonds
3) Padres- decent pitching and good bullpen, but their offense is weak
4) Diamondbacks- not much going on there
5) Rockies- they should just build a house at the botton of the NL West

Dodgers
Padres
Giants
D'backs
Rockies

The Dodgers scored a lot of runs with a similar line-up of speed, hitting and not a lot of power. They improved by getting Pierre and Gonzo, and Kent is looking like he has his power back. Plus, Ethier and Martin aren't rookies anymore and they still have some good bench guys, like Loney and Kemp.

They have the best pitching staff in the division, too. Wolf is back from surgery, hitting 94 on the radar gun.

I live here in SF and this is a tough division to guess at. Its really anyone's division but I actually agree with you besides the switching of your 2 & 3 teams. I like the giants offense and pitching.

1. Giants

2. Padres

3. D-Backs

4. Dodgers

5. They will never get away from dead last.
