I took a pregnancy test 4 days after missed period and had a positive, 2 days later had brownish spotting and called my doctor. Today i went to a ultrasound appointment and they couldn't see the heartbeat, but there was a sac. I wonder if anyone has had this happen to them.

As long as they see a sac that is good news. They should have scheduled you for another ultrasound for a week or so. You should be able to see the heartbeat then. Don't try to worry. I had an ultrasound done at 5 weeks 2 days and saw only the sac, I went back yesterday, 2 weeks later and they saw the baby and immediately saw the heartbeat and it was good and strong. Don't worry, it doesn't sound like a miscarriage, just too early to see anything, you may not be as far along as you thought.

Did they say if their was anything in the sack. Pregnancy with an empty sack is a blighted ovum. This is where their is a sack but no baby. You will still have a positive. It could be the start of miscarriage. Or it could be that your not as far along as you though. Maybe its early. Its not always possible to see a heartbeat at 6 weeks, Plus if your a few days or a week early you wont see one.

Ask the doctor questions and ask for tests. Blood work can normally tell if your HCg levels are doubling.

Could be a miscarriage but could also be that it is too soon to find the baby's heartbeat. I have had spotting ever since week 5 until now (15 weeks pregant) and all is well.

i started spotting at 6 weeks saw my doctor and my baby had 180 heart rate. two days later i almost bled to death in a messy miscarriage. if you do not see a heart rate at six weeks on an ultrasound. there is a chance that you might have already miscarried and haven't passed the baby yet. i am so sorry. i hope this is not the case.

6weeks is early. Even though you can usually see a heartbeat by then, there are many times you cant. I am guessing he said to come back in 2weeks to see if there is a heartbeat then. They need to take into account that you may be off of conception a few days and that can matter when it comes to development. Don't worry and think happy thoughts.

I haven't experienced this but a very, very close friend has recently had 2 miscarriages, and unfortunately, your situation sounds exactly the same as what she dealt with. It's been a rough couple of months for her (with her recent event just last week), but I know she'll keep trying and keep faith that she and her husband will be successful at conceiving soon. Try to keep your faith! Like the others have said, everything happens for a reason.

Could be a blighted ovum...try another u/s...I had an u/s at 8 weeks. I lost a pregnancy...sperm and egg had met and formed a sac but didn't grow from there. I had a u/s and you could see the sac but nothing in it. I had to have a d&c to clear it out.

My best friend had a similar situation, it turned out to be a Molar Pregnancy. Sac develops but no baby... unusual and uncommon. You should look into it and ask ur doctor. They should be able to tell u right away.

Good luck.
