Hello, I have a baby girl who just turned one. I am trying to find out the best way to transition her from warm formula (she refuses to drink it unless it is very warm) to cold whole milk (either in a bottle or sippy). All experienced moms are encouraged to answer! Thanks!

Well, I warmed my daughter's milk up (whole milk) then slowly made it cooler and cooler. After a certain point, she refused to drink it cold at all. I'm strict about my daughters diet...sugar wise. I feel it's not necessary for her to have sugary foods and drinks and unhealthy things...it's pointless. So I talked to her doctor about the milk problem and he told me that if she won't take the milk cold, put a little chocolate syrup in it just to sweeten it SLIGHTLY. I expressed my concerns with this and he said it'd be OK to do for now until she gets used to it cold. I had to give it to her with maybe 1/2-1 teaspoon syrup in it for about 2 weeks...then, I lessened the amount after that. Finally, I gave her a plain cup of cold whole milk and she drank it and has been drinking it ever since. She loves her chocolate milk AND plain milk...cold. That's what worked for me.

Of course, you may not be as strict as I was, but that's what helped...so you wouldn't have to worry about that too much!!! :)

Good luck!

My first daughter was the same way. She would only drink warm milk out of the bottle. When I gave it to her in a sippy cup she was fine with it being cold. i would try putting the cold milk in a sippy cup and see if she will take that. I hope this helps

Try mixing the warm stuff with the cold very gradually. Like maybe 3/4 warm to 1/4 cold at first, for a few days, then go 50-50 for a few days, then 1/4 to 3/4. It may take awhile, but eventually she should make the switch. Good luck!

My son is 13months old, and still takes a bottle of whole milk when he wakes up, and before bed. I always warm it up for him when he drinks it from his bottle, but if he has milk during the day from his cup, it is straight from the fridge. I have tried giving him cold milk at night in his bottle, but he will not drink it unless it is warmed up. I warm it in the microwave for about 45 seconds.

I usually switch to warm whole milk and then gradually warm it less and less.

my son never drank cold milk until recently. (he is 4) when he is with me, he insists on microwaving his milk in the cup. when he is with my mom or husband he will take cold milk.
