Well as far as I remember mine was pretty heavy at first. This varies. Get a combo pack of possible. One thing you need to know about tamps is that they do have fiberglass in them to make you bleed more so then you have to buy more. I would recommend getting unbleached, cotton tamps. they may not feel as smooth at insertion but they are the best thing invented for woman. The fiberglass thing really has some long term effects on your reproductive organs. It slowly eats away at the lining of you cervix. Are you still in school? they usually go over all of this by the 5 grade at least. You sexual status has little to do with how heavy you bleed though it does have a lot ot do with what size to use. Try a medium or light at first until you get used to how it feels. It will be very awkward at first and you want to keep pads with you just in case. For heavy flow purposes and for comfort in case tamps aren't working for you at first. another thing is you can never bring too many with you. Expect the flow to vary for a while. Good luck sweety and welcome to womanhood.

Not all girls have someone to talk to when they first get their period. Some parents find it difficult to discuss this subject and so girls have to find other ways to find more information. When you first get your period, you have many options, but the main options are to use either a sanitary napkin, a menstrual cup, or a tampon. The tampon is a little bit more complex, but once you see it and understand how it is inserted, it can be a cleaner and more preferable option.

my personal favorite brand of tampon is OB. start with a regular or light. they are different because they do not have any applicator...you insert them with your finger. the design of the OB tampon is better because its shape is better built to create more of a seal and absorb the flow. OB tampons were designed by a woman for women.

Whatever you do, don't use Super absorbant or odor protection. They increase your risk of infection (or Toxic Shock Syndrome)

Definitely for a first time, use Tampax Pearl. The plastic applicators make a difference.

Good luck! <3

I would use Playtex Slimfits or other light tampon. I like the Playtex brand better, but every woman has her own preference.

Good luck!

you might want to use a pad with the tampon at first til you're sure what one to use and how often you need to change it.
