Why do kid's think it's our job to do their homework for them? Do these kids know that their teachers get paid to answer these questions? Do your own homework junior. We already did ours.

I am speaking of kids that come on Yahoo Answers and expect us to do their homework for them. I help my own children. But many young people come on this site and expect us to do an entire paper for them. What's up with that?

I am a teacher and I can understand where you are coming from. I don't mean to step on anyone toes, but when a child/ young person goes online to ask a question about their homework they usually do want you to do it for them. Don't get me wrong now, I feel it's okay to help them, but if you just give them the answer and they have no idea how you got the answer then it has only hurt them, not help them. "If you give a man a fish, he eats for a day; but if you teach a man to fish, he eats for his life time."

You are right, teachers do get paid to answer students’ questions, but we don't go home with them and any homework that is given is work to reinforce the concepts that were taught during the day’s lesson.

So, I don't think that you are being harsh or anything because I, like you, would like to see students use the Internet as a resource for supplementary information not a quick fix. How you like it if your doctor, for example, went online to get help with the questions on (a) test/ homework on how to complete a procedure, would you let him/her diagnose you and/or prescribe your medication?

I'm speaking as a grade 10 high school student who needs frequent help with homework. I believe that Yahoo functions as online help website where I can go to if I need help. Usually, for me, I only need help with a few choice questions. The teachers are not always available to help us and sometimes, I just don't understand the question, no matter how hard I try. For me, Yahoo Answers is a blessing because there's people who know the subject well enough to explain it to me and aid in my learning of the subject. I'm not telling you to do my homework; I'm asking for help on the subject that I don't understand. I know many people abuse the site by always asking for the answers, but in the long run, they'll pay for it on tests and exams because they don't know the material. Besides, you're not obligated to help kids when they come online with questions really, its not like you should be complaining...

I'm sorry? I don't understand your question. I teach young ones and strongly encourage the parents to work on it with the kids, to ensure that the work is being done properly. It's also a chance for the students to get some one-on-one help with the material they are learning in class.
