and what's the big deal? Maybe we better start paying more attention to the "indivisible" part and less to the "under God" part before we end up pledging allegiance to the North American Union and The New World Order. Who the hell knows what that country will be "under", but the way it's being implemented is definitely unGodly.

Early 60s, had to have been because I started school in 1958 and it wasn't taught with "under god" until I was in second or third grade. I don't know about the other states but in California it was an option even back then. Some schools/teachers taught it some didn't. When I was in middle school the pledge was not mandatory, we didn't have to recite it at all. I have never said the pledge with "under god"

The word "Atheistic Communists" has been repeated a great variety of circumstances that the standard public has appropriate Atheism with communism; the two are often seen synonymous. Many evaluate Atheism as unpatriotic and "un-American" as communism. maximum communists, worldwide, are Atheists. yet, in North united statesa., the opposite isn't genuine; maximum Atheists are non-communists. regardless of the certainty that there are likely many Atheist and Humanist legislators on the federal and state ranges, few if any are keen to bare their ideals, by way of mind-blowing prejudice against persons conserving those perception platforms.

I believe it was 1954 at the height of McCarthyism. We had to prove we were not godless athiest like the communists. Political expediency and scare tactics drove it threw.
