First, if you want to publish, you need to learn to spell "intact."

Then, if you don't want to sell your soul, research publishing houses before you send them your manuscript. Any publisher who wants money from you is crooked, and any publisher who asks you to sign a contract with the word "exclusive" in it will snap up your rights. Simply treat searching for a publisher as seriously as you would search for a job and you should be able to keep your rights.

The same way in which an unknown white, purple or green writer would. Reread it and correct it and make sure it's good and that people will want to read it. Protect yourself before sending it out to be read. Make a copy of the manuscript; put it in an envelope addressed to yourself and mail it to yourself--don't open it, though, not until someone comes along and tries to steal your great book and claim that they wrote it--then when someone claims that they wrote your great book first, you can show them the postdate on the book you've mailed to yourself.. Then send out copies of your book to prospective publishers with a cover letter about yourself and your work--tell them you're black if you think it's important, or send it to black publishers of books, if there are any. Good luck.

First register it at the copyright office. http://www.copyright.com is the site and it has a list of frequently asked questions about copyrights.

Second, get some peers to read it and see what they think. Peer input is good.

Third, ask your local library for the current edition of "Writer's Market." It has a list of publishers and their needs and also some great tips for getting published.

What does your color have to do with publishing the book? The best way is through an agent. Reputable publishers can suggest one.

I suspect you'll do better with your writing career as soon as you learn to spell and to create gramatically correct sentences.

Once you attain that goal, get a literary agent to sell your story lines for you.
