Neither! Because Mephisto has a lot of evil associations with that name, so I'd be suspicious that it would bring the child bad luck! And Shiva is a name pertaining to a god in male form, so Shiva is not really meant as a girl's name. Try again!

Very good names. They are original and rare. In the future, people will be constantly mistaken for someone else because there are so many identical names (Michael, John, Peter, John, Steven, John, Michael, etc.) For example, you talk about Martin Luther of the 16th century but people think you are talking about Martin Luther King, etc. People are so afraid of anything unusual. It is good that you are not a conformist, like most people are.

Mephisto sounds like a name for a magician. Plus how would you shorten it? Meph sounds too much like meth and phisto sounds like they like to fight. As for your girl's name, I think Shiva is the traditional Jewish ritual of mourning. Good for you for wanting to be creative though. Just try again.

It depends on the last name. I think they would work well with Jones or Smith but not good with anything with more than one syllable.
Have fun explaining why you picked these names to your kids. It might generate a song like, "My Name is Sue" by Johnny Cash.
