Yep,,sure does happen.
Seen it happen Many of times in the shop over the years.
Fortunately it's not as uniform and pretty as a deliberately set-up scene from a Movie.
Typically it's limited to just a few units.
Bikes are Hard to knock off a Center stand,,and almost impossible to when towards the side that has the stand's foot peg.
Most "Domino Chains" dont get too far because bikes dont hit each other high enough,,,and they get entangled.
Usually it's freakin' Dirt Bikes with mangled side stands that somebody parked wrong.
I'd estimate 90% of the fall-over chain reactions are caused by that
Amazed me for YEARS the number of people who wanna work on motorcycles,,learn how to Build a RACER!!!,,,and GO FAST!!,,,and never learn how to stack a row of motorcyles,,,or what bike is safe to park next to what else.
But Yeah,,,it Happens.
Damage is usually not as bad as it seems it would be,,,or at least not in most instances I've seen.
Best way to INTENTIONALLY do it,,
is to find a bike on it's side stand ,,and just push it forward from behind
Works best if bars are turned towards Right.
Makes it Fall faster.
If turned LEFT,,they fall slower from trying to "spiral down " into the turn.
When you see it in the Movies,,,and its a row of Harleys---they've all had their sidestands' locks de-activated & modified to set-up the effect.
Normally,,they cannot cause side-stand to fold up by rolling forward.
And even most Customs with non-h-d frames use oem style stands.
You can jump Up & Down on a h-d and not bend sidestand,,
they are VERY Stout and strong in that respect.
RealWorld,,,,,the line of Bandido Bikes in front of the sleezey bar getting bumped over,,,
I'd hafta see it to beleive it.
Their normal construction makes it all but impossible.
Lots of OTHER type bikes practically teeter on the verge of falling over,,,,even a small bump (especially Forward) and down they'll go.
The FACT is,,,almost EVERYONE has seen it happen,,,TV,Movies, etc.
That's a PROFESSIONAL SKILL....special effect/stunt craft shop.
Folks dont stop and realize that somebody is PAID to create that Effect.
It's a JOB ,,a CRAFT to make those bikes fall over.
Outside of Hollywood,,,"The JOB" is teaching all the wormy motorcycle shop helpers how to park motorcycles to keep it from happening accidentally.
Nobody ever imagines a 80 or 100lb Rotweiler or Sherperd or DoberDane ,,,or 2 or 3 of them ,,,jumping on a row of motorcycles at night,,chasing a cat, coon, possum, rat, bat, pigeons,,or whatever.
Or fighting amongst themselves.
And there's always the COOL BIKER DUDE that wants to show off his FlatTrack>Speedway>Observed Trials>RoadRace KneeDrag>Supercross>JackAss Form in a shop cram packed with bikes sitting on a slimy polished concrete floor...
who's Amazing Biker Dude Skills send him slamming into a pile of parked bikes..
Then there's the Indoor MiniBike races,,,where we ALL get to be COOL BIKER DUDE-for-the-day,,,and everybody's a jackass for a few laps around the shop.
Which occasionally yields same result as the REAL Cool Biker Dude's jackass stunt.
Something gets run over or knocked down.
Or,,,somebody hops on a bike parked in a row,,thats spent 6~8~10 hours in 100* Sun,,,and comes straight up off it like a cat.
Usually a Kid in Shorts that wants to sit on the motorcyles.
Then the Shop's a buncha azzholes when they hit-on Mom or Dad to PAY FOR that $300~400 Gas Tank their kid just Bought while the folks were at parts counter buying their $2 sparkplug.
Turn signal lenses,taillites,levers,mirrors,,,
not even worth arguing about.
I've eaten so many of those I should be a shiny flashing metal robot by now.
Anyway,,,,YEP,,,it's actually part of some Folks JOB DESCRIPTION To "CREATE" that Domino Effect.
And besides That Stunt,,,out in the Real World where Stuff Happens,,
Sometimes it Does Happen.
