I've heard that your services with cingular can be canceled if you buy an unlocked phone and use your current SIM card. Is that true? My mom needs a new phone and she's not due for an upgrade until 12/07!! Can she buy an unlocked phone and use it without any problems?

I have never heard of that happening. I haven't used an unlocked phone for a year or two, but when I did, I never had any problems. I really do not believe there is currently any way for the phone company to tell which phone you are using anyway.

Additionally, I do not think Cingular cares. As long as you pay them for service you can use whichever phone you please. Many people for quite a few years already have used unlocked phones without problems.

Your only problem is you might need to configure some things to get them to work, like web browsing or downloading game from Cingular. But these are usually esay to do and your telephone calls will work either way.

Good luck!

I've never had that problem and have unlocked several phones for T-mobile and Cingular. They have no problem unlocking a phone for their company or using a phone unlocked for their company... either way their getting paid.
