The best thing to control periods to either shorten or keep them on time is birth control. My best friend started taking birth control when she was only 10 years old to control her periods. I ave been on it myself to keep my periods regular for about 4 years now. Recently I have to take it for other reasons (hormone regulation).

Birth control is the best option because it does regulate the hormones needed to have periods. If there is less hormones then there is less bleeding, same thing vice versa (more hormones, more bleeding). What may be going on with your daughter is that she may have a naturally high hormone level during that time of the month which is why she has it for so long.

There are many dosages of birth control that can be fitted to your daughters needs. Take her to a Gynecologist, if she is under 18 they can be asked to not perform any invasive procedures like a pelvic or PAP, and ask about period control.

I hope this helps.

Have her try the new birth control pill that shortens your period to 3 or less days. If you don't want your daughter on birth control, i dont know how old she is, there really isn't anything she can do. She may want to try to excersise, like a treadmill. It will make her bleed more, possibly shortening her period. (you know, the feeling when you get up.. ) It will help if she doesn't sit around a lot :) Hope this helps!

I have had this problem for several years, and have always hated the idea of going on birth control. The past year I have been drinking this tea about a week before my period. Raspberry leaf tea helps alot in strengthening the blood vessel tone of the uterus. As well, I have this tea from the maker of YOGI teas. It's called women's moon cycle tea. This has helped alot with my premenstral symptoms and I hardly have cramps at the beginning of my period any more. hope this helps.

Take her to gyn doctor. I think birth control. I had terrible cramps and plus my period lasted 7 to 10 days. After 3 months on BC I didn't cramp as bad and my period only lasted 2 to 3 days.
