it would have to be g (-6). that is the only number between -12 and -3.

To see it, draw a straight line, with a zero in its center:

Then, add integer numbers in the following order: positive numbers, increasing, from 0 to the right; negative numbers, from 0 to the left. The result is the following:

--- -5 --- -4 --- -3 --- -2 --- -1 --- 0 --- 1 --- 2 --- 3 --- 4 --- 5 ---

Please make a bigger line, to put more numbers; the space here is short.

Note how the numbers reflect one another, as in a mirror. Negative numbers are like "mirror images" of positive numbers.

In this line, bigger numbers are always at right of smaller ones. You can use the line as a guide in comparing number values.
