I'm tearing up all my cymbals in practice, and I'm wondering if I could weld some old ones back together again. Even if they would sound just mediocre, it would still be worth it. Next Question: How do I weld something?

They would definitely sound like crap. You might be able to find someone to weld them for you - since you would need to have a little arc welder or something in order to do it (plus you would have to know how to do it).

Your best bet is to get some decent quality cymbals. Zildjian makes the best. I've got a set that a friend of mine let me borrow that he, I, and several other people have been beating on severely for years, and they don't have a single crack. Cheap cymbals will break (and sound crappy to begin with). You might try using lighter gauge sticks (your drum heads will thank you too).

I've known guys who have welded cymbals back together, because it is fairly commen for them to crack, especially if you have a heavy hand. It can be a temporary fix, but of course i feel it does affect the sound.

it fairly is observed as a Sting... (i've got been a drummer for very almost 40 years) and maximum persons in simple terms call it a Ba-Dum-BUM... yet.... it fairly is this is definition... A sting is a short sequence performed by potential of using a drummer to punctuate a shaggy dogs tale, often an obvious or slapstick one. A sting is on the completed used as accompaniment in the direction of cabaret- or circus-kind shows. it fairly is extra often than not erroneously observed as a rimshot, even nonetheless a rimshot may even join a sting. Figures might take the kind of a short roll accompanied via crash cymbal and kick drum, a flam, or a rimshot. it fairly is extra often than not spoken as "badum-bum-CHING!", "ba-dum CHSHH!", "bu-bumKSH!", "ba-dum PSH!" or "ba-dum TSH!" (the latter 2 generally seen to be the main 'prevalent' sounds used) or equivalent, in line with listening to a principally corny humorous tale. there could be a demonstration of it on the link under.. flow pay attention

it would be an exercise in futility. Yes they would sound like crap and they wouldn't hold together very long. If they are cracking that easily, you are either buying really cheap cymbals, or using rebar for sticks.

Most cybals, ziljin, etc are laminatid brass and other materials...you could possibly have a sheetmetal shop either heliarc or braze them....it will change the tone and timber but, at the cost of symbals nowadays, it might be the best alternative.....

i had the same problem, and i tried welding, but they just came out a mess and it screwed up the sound...i just got new ones, and they were damn expensive, but it was worth it...i kept having to buy new ones, and dear god it was a nuisance.
