If the car's engine is turning IE cranking when you turn the key, it is not the starter. The starter is simply a small motor with a gear that engages the flywheel to turn the engine. If the engine is turning when you hit the key, then you are missing either fuel or spark . These are the 2 requirements for a car to start. You may have a bad fuel pump (fuel missing) or a bad distributor (spark missing) or your computer may be bad, (no fuel or spark). you can pull a plug wire off and put a screw driver into the end and hold it close to a grounded piece of metal while someone cranks to see if it sparks. This will narrow down what's missing. Also you can unhook a fuel line to check for fuel pressure.

i own a repair shop, and if it will crank over its not the starter, you need to check and see if its getting fire and gas ,the two main things any car needs to run,if it is then it should run,if its not ,there's about 25 things that could make it not start, and run,you may wind up having to have this one done at a shop, because they will have the necessary equipment to check all this with, good luck i hope this help,s.

Many things it could be.
Does your starter barely start? like moves Little? Also check your amps in your battery. Cold cranking amps could cause that.. I've had that happen to mine. next check wires.. plug wires. if its a Si. i think that's the b16 motor. check your distributor.

If you can turn the motor over fast enough you need three things, fuel, oxygen, and spark. You need these at the right times. Check to see that the motor is getting all three components needed for ignition then check to see if the motor is getting the right ammounts of each and if the timing is on. trace out the problem.
