I want to get into a garage to get some golf carts, but it has a chain with a padlock, don't know which would be fastest to break.

Usually the chain. Most locks are made of extremely hard metal -and unless they bought some expensive chain, then it is going to be softer.

Let me know how you like that jail cell.

Chain will be easier, But why don't you ask for the key for the padlock?

it would point out the skill on the advert someplace. The lock shank is possibly 5/sixteen hardened. 14" cutters are probably too small, i could recommend 24". A Dremel with a slicing wheel could be greater helpful. And useful for different issues besides

Joemammy.. Is correct,but If both chain and lock are hardened use a grinder.
