c i have this thing i didnt do my homework n my teacher gave me a detention n a 5oo worded essay and in my family getting detentions r very bad. i will get grounded 4 like a year n it happened before.

Thus homework is a time to practice so you are sure you got it and to help you remember it long term. Homework can also help you realize when you thought you understood something, but you really don't. Sometimes it looks simple and makes sense when you see the teacher show you on the board in class. But there is a difference between understanding how something makes sense and knowing it. Homework can help make sure you know it.
