I told him no way, my father was a NYC firefighter and my mom was a stay at home mom, my husbands family are from the farms of kentucky and virginia, out of 6 kids my youngest sister is the first person in my family to get a college degree and she is trying to pay it off our parents couldn't pay for it, we all have good jobs but its because we had to go through the crappy ones to get them, ( live in a duplex) are there really people out there who think just because your white everything must have been handed to you? because i have heard this before, i'm 24 and my husband is 23, we have no kids, he is in the Air Force and i work in an office, we have new cars and furniture but we have worked for everything we have,

virtualhat..: you have know idea what your talking about, what about the more qualified white people who don't get picked for a job just because of affirmative action?
i feel sorry for you that you don't think we live in a society where if you work hard you can take care of yourself, me and countless others are proof, you just blame your problems on other peoples successes, thats what makes you sad and pitiful, there are no victims anymore

I'm gald you asked, I admit I used to think that when I was a kid. I grew up in a poor area of town and I never saw white people, when I did see then it was when we were shopping or something and had to pass through the white areas. They had big houses, nice cars and clothes. I thought that's how it was. Then I grew up,started to see the real world. Started to notice the struggles of all groups of people. I have several white friends who grew up with nothing but loving, hard working parents, and that's all that matters!. I think if more people could walk in the shoes of others they would notice people are'nt just what you see on tv, and what you were always told.

Because racism is still alive and well today. I'm sick of all this bullcrap "my parents were poor and they pulled themselves up by the bootstraps and look where we are today!" There are people who will hire a less qualified white person over a more qualified black person just because they are racist. How can black people compete with illogical thinking like that? If I was one of them I would mug the white guy who took my job.

It's all a legacy of white money. I'm not saying every white person is rich, but more white people have more money than black people without question. Their parents can pay for school and they can get the jobs. If a black teenager gets a job, he's helping to pay rent and put food on the table. He can't save up for school.

Then you have people saying that this is a capitalist country. The land of opportunity! They can just start their own business. Ok... most people (white or black) are not talented enough to run a business, much less get funding and have a profitable idea. If it was that easy we'd all do it.

EDIT: You're that naive that you think you can be successful by being a hard worker and playing nice? It's a wonder you aren't sleeping in shelter.

This comes from the way things were back in the past- White people were rich and the minorities worked for them. I know that it has been a while since it has been that way in the US but keep in mind that in some places, this is still the case. Movies have also played a big part in this. If you look at all the movies in the 20's-50's, this is how things were portrayed..Look at Gone With the Wind, Imitation Of Life and other movies from that era. Some people still have that one track way of thinking.

I grew up in an upper- middle class area. One of my friends told me one day when I was younger that my family had to be rich because we were the only black family in a white neighborhood. My mother owned her business and my dad worked for the government...We were not rich. My parents also taught me to work hard for what I have. I have a good job now and worked hard for everything that I have. It just goes to show you how ignorant people are and how in some ways, we are still moving backward rather than forward.

The saying of the so-called black guy does not represent the world opinion. Your observation is not the answer from the so-called white people.
Various sorts of immature actions and prejudices since the dark times of history cause our generations yesterday and today to misunderstand each other grievously. We hate each other for all kinds of unreasonable reasons and even for no reasons. The more we try to solve these problems in ignorance, hatred and violence...the more we fall into our self-made hell.
In this New Era of human maturity, perhaps, we should learn again the lesson of selfless love taught in the Holy Books of the Messengers of the One True God to observe the divine principle of mutual love and respect, and try to gradually solve our wolrd problems in love, peace and prosperity for all. Because, all humanity are equally the dearly loved children of the One True God whom He exclusively bestows the rational sense to make wise choices.

I don’t know about you but I got up this morning and the same old willing to please Blackman, Chester was waiting at my door. After he gave me my daily piggy-back ride to the corner store I tipped the fellow a nickle and went in for my free cup of coffee and complementary morning paper. When I came out a nice woman gave me the keys to her BMW so I could drive home. She said she had she had three in her driveway at home and I could keep it. Then she smiled and complemented me on my clean-cut white American appearance. Chester ran behind and preceded to await my bidding on the front porch after we arrived back at the house. It was at lest thirty below outside so I cranked up the heat to 90. It’s so nice having a uncle who is president of the local gas company. Just then the phone rang it was the federal government. For the tenth year in a row, what do ya know, I don’t have to pay my taxes again. Oh gosh, what to do? All my days are starting to seem the same.

You will find people who believe this in every racial group. In fact, only a very few people have everything handed to them, and the vast majority of whatever race have to work to get what they want.

The thing is, some people find it easier to whine about what someone else has instead of earning it for themself.

It's human nature to judge someone's race or religion. If there's no race or religion, this world would be a better place. But then again, human beings just find other things to fight or argue about anyway. Sad but true.

Many(notice I didn't make a stupid generalization and say all!) are. They are either handed everything or cheat/steal their way through life. And don;t try to tell me that it isn't true because I see it with my own two eyes everyday.

you sound like a true american, work for yourself. i like that. however, i believe it is a double standard because i also heard that blacks are handed down everything (example affirmative action, possible reparations).

i dont believe its a race issue. more of lazy/poor people complaining as usual

You should have asked him that question, because not all black people or people in general think that. I think all of the trailer trash on Jerry Springer shows that.
