What if you maintain 100 mph straight up. Given enough fuel and time (and the right ship), could you escape the earth's gravity?

If you maintain 100 mph straight up, you are accelerating upward since you're overcoming gravity. Yes, you would escape eventually.

Yes, you would. As long as you keep moving away from the Earth, the pull of Earth's gravity will weaken. Eventually, you will come to a point where Earth's gravity is effectively zero and other gravitational forces will have a greater effect.

Side note: in order to maintain a velocity of 100mph you would actually have to decrease your thrust the farther you got from the Earth until your thrust reached zero and you coasted until your hit another gravity well.

Yes. Very Slowly, at that. Escape Velocity is only a measure of how fast ONE THRUST OR EXPLOSION would have to get you moving to escape earth's gravity. If you have constant thrust, you could leave earth at 1 mph, if you wished.

No you need about 25,000 miles per hour to escape the earths gravitational pull.
