If I left a Dewalt 18v battery on the charging cradle for a really long time without removing it...?

would it die faster if I never used the battery or would it stay new?

The DeWalt charger shuts off once the battery is at full charge. At that point the charger just becomes a battery holder. You can test this by lifting the battery out and immediately replacing it in the charger. It should go into the charge cycle briefly

It depends. Some chargers automatically switch to a deep cycle if you leave the battery on them, and it will improve the life of the battery.

Some just shut off once the battery reaches charge.
