I just turned 25 two weeks ago. Last night I went to go see Kittie, Walls of Jericho and some local acts trying to get a break by opening up for these 2 bands. When it struck me that out of the 500-600 people there (was a club, not a stadium) I was like one of maybe 30-40 people over 21. Everyone else was 15-20. I'm I getting too old or is that just alot of people in America are usually married and/or have kids by 25 and don't have the time to go?

America's problem is that 15 year old n00bs who listen to avenged sevenfold and trivium think they're metalheads.
That's such a load of BS. To be a real metalhead you need years of researching, listening, comparing and visiting concerts!!
Hey, you only START to be a REAL TRUE metalhead at around 25!!!
The rest in n00b kids who have been into metal for like a year and a half, just because they heard it on MTV.

I wouldn't qualify the bands you listed as 'metal' so much as I would label them 'garbage'. I don't think too many people your age still fall for that trash music... 15-20 year olds can definitely relate to the confused and utter aggression of those bands. The bands themselves should be embarassed that they can only fill clubs with moronic and angry teens.

And too old for metal concerts? The term 'heavy metal' was coined in 1967 by infamous rock critic Lester Bangs when explaining the 'sound' of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Some would even say that metal began with the Yardbirds' rave-ups in the mid-sixties. That would make the most original metal fans at least 60 years old. So, no, you're not too old for heavy metal... you just happen to listen to trash that usually only teenagers can identify with.

I'm 26 and have metal pumping through my veins! If you go to more underground bands, you'll see the average age jump. I know that Walls of Jerico is particularly popular among the teen angsters. Your never to old for metal! Just don't be that old guy (way far from now) that hits on the 16-18 year old girls. I've had to deal with plenty in my mosh pitting days. Look for 21 and up shows!

Well, if you are listening to the NEW bands with younger members, then the fans are going to be younger than 25. You want to listen to awesome metal and the crowd be around your age and older? Go to a progressive metal/rock fest! No offense to a lot of these New metal bands, but they have nothing on these verterans of metal music. Bands like Symphony X, Beyond Fear, Firewind, Avantasia, Stratovarius, etc. These guys are definitely 25 and older. Man look at Ronnie James Dio still rockin out! These kids are surprised when I jam the music they listen to based on my age, but when I throw on some progressive metal they are like 'whats that"!? Its like their ears can't handle a thrashing ear splitting guitar solo! Crazy! Anyway, check out the progressive metal scene and rock out.

There is no such thing as too old for metal. I'm 22, and when I saw Celtic Frost last year, there were people almost twice my age there, and us "over 18" crowd outnumbered the kids.

I didn't know Kittie still existed.

You're never to old to rock! But I'll tell you why a lot of people stop going to concerts as they get older: they just get too busy, and/or cannot spend the extra dough on tickets and concessions when they have kids to feed and clothe (ticket prices are ridiculous these days), they have to line up sitters, the list goes on. We just rock out at home and in our cars on the way to work every day!

Uhm...do whatever suits you. If you are 25 and enjoy the music and concert, go... There is no age that is too old to do something if you feel comfortable doing it

Don't worry about others, If metal music floats you boat then rock on!!! I don't care old you get , do what you enjoy that is what actually keeps us younger and happier.

I learn to never worry about how people in society may see things what is important is how I feel and view things.

live to enjoy!!!!

NEVER, rock until you die, get drunk, scream and shout man... thats the ticket, metal is eternal and you will be too!!!!!

"Wide eyed and hopefully wild.
We barely remember what came before this precious moment,
Choosing to be here right now. Hold on, stay inside...
This body holding me, reminding me that I am not alone in
This body makes me feel eternal. All this pain is an illuuuusion."
