I must say that I was quite disappointed with the book. I did not feel a sense of accomplishment when I finished it like I usually do when I finish books. I wasn't looking for a great life lesson in the book. Perhaps that is what I did wrong? If you have read it what did you learn from the book?

I didn't like the book either - it's all a matter of perspective.

Call me Ishmael starts the tale
Of Moby Dick, the Great White Whale
And ends with Ahab's deathly wave
the Piquod sent to a watery grave
What happens in between these two,
I really haven't got a clue

I thought it was wonderful except for some of the belabored passages about whaling history. There is a lesson in the book, which is obvious.... obsession with revenge will kill you in the end...And, at the very least, you can impress your friends by telling them what character/book the cafe STARBUCKS got its name from! :)

No, I haven't read it. Do you recomend it, because I think it's old and I don't really like classics and old-fashioned language?
