Can anyone tell me how why I have a microsoft security warning, and why my yahoo homepage has changed to an advertisement for "internet security" and trying to get me to download "spy heal" and "pest capture"?

You have spyware. Run the 2 scans below.

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/ . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

Download, update and run Adaware---http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/products/select_your_product.php

While you are at it, run a virus scan as well.

You can run a free online scan from CA.

Had it several times now, beware of certain sites and videos (men entertainment type for certain). It's a type of adware (malware) but it's not as easy as sweeping it (somehow it get past ). Also be aware that besides this you may also have some viruses and a Trojan or two (be sure to sweep your system just in case).
You have to get a program called smitfraud fix (google it), after you find it you go into safe mode and install it and have it find it.
I can't remember the steps but I believe a read me is also in the file of smitfraud. Good luck and be careful what sites you go to or you'll be getting them all the time.
And note to others that I had Spysweeper and Norton installed and it never removed them. It let them pass their so called security on all the time mode AND after sweeping, with both.

The warning is not an official Microsoft warning. It is a scam to attempt to get you to purchase a rogue anti-malware program. Do NOT download or purchase it!

Your computer has a serious Smitfraud infection. You may need to use a specialised removal tool such as the free SmitFraudFix:
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php
or
RogueFix (free):

To remove this pest.

Good luck.

You've got spyware! Whatever you do DON'T download spy heal or pest capture. It will make it worse.

It's because you have spyware and adware installed on your computer.

Go to www.lavasoftusa.com and download the latest version of adaware. Run it, then get a copy of Spybot Search and destroy from www.merjin.org.

Install both, run one at a time and remove any infections found.

You computer has been infected with spyware. To get it remove try using ad-aware personal edition (is free) basically download it from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php this removes most spyware, also consider purchasing an antivirus or update your current antivirus software. I recommend Norton for antivirus.
