I have my 05 Land Rover in for service and they tell me I need brakes. I have only 15000 miles on the car. Is this right?

50-60 miles is expected. So 15,000 is AWESOME!

Have someone else check the brakes. How many times have you used your brakes from what speeds under what conditions. If you drive a stick shift, don't do much city driving, don't ride the brake pedal and slow down before you need to brake, they will last a hundred thousand miles. I wouldn't even think of looking at my brakes in 15,000 miles. You didn't mention having trouble with your brakes. Maybe "they" need some work. Maybe "they" should do warranty work on a safety issue. Ask "they" why.

You may have been riding the brake - that will wear them quickly. I usually get around 50K out of brakes, and I think the average inspection frequency is around 30K, so you have definitely ended up on the low side of the scale. You could have another problem such as a warped rotor that could be contributing to the problem, but this is a remote possibility on a newer car.

Wow that is light. On an automatic city/Highway driving around 40K. You might ask another shop to chek them...Always gat a second opinion...
