they say things like "he do" instead of "he does". i am always hearing things like "my baby daddy" {as opposed to "my baby's daddy"} and "why come" this or that instead of "how come" or maybe just "why". i actually heard a black woman say--on television, no less!-- that she had a degree from the university of "norf" texas. and then so many wonder why they can't get taken seriously.

when did i say that all black people talk this way? and when did i say that no white people butcher the language? i didn't. so get off your high horses. my question is specifically about black people and their widely-accepted habit of speaking poorly. don't like it? then move on to another question.

I think it's a cultural identity thing. I've noticed it quite a bit, even in the business world among educated african-americans. They seem to revert to it when communicating with others of their kind...sort of a community activity. It's perplexing, but I really think it gives them a sense of belonging & onenes with their "people". It's an interesting phenomena. FYI my personal fave is 'munfs' for "months".

First of all, there is no such thing as the grammar police. So, what do you propose people should do? Second of all, if you're watching something like Maury Povich and Jerry Springer, then yes... you would definitely hear black people talking like that. So, try turning off your TV.
I'm sure you can find something more important to worry about than how black people speak. Your question shows extreme bias. So I seriously doubt that you are even looking for a legitimate answer. Its not a color thing, its more of a social and economic thing. I know white people who speak the same way. So, you really shouldn't generalize. And, no... not all black people speak that way.

Your statement is way to general and the misuse and mispronunciation of the English language is in no way limited to one race."Blacks" live all over the planet, as do many other races. Some are well spoken and some are not. It is unfair to target one race when the misuse is generally widespread. The less education one has, the worse the misuse, and that happens in all cultures and all races, period.

Yeah well..... Stop generalizing, lady. *_* Some people are just a product of their enviornment. If they are raised around other peopl that talk that way, that's how they will talk. Besides, country folks abuse the English language, too. =/ You know what? We all abuse the English language. With our "shortcut" words like "don't" as opposed to "do not" and "we'll" as opposed to "we will".

Actually the "country twang" is prevalent in Whites in many places and is no more intelligible or proper. Most people of lower class seem to embrace the wrong things, no matter the race.
