Should i trade chase utley, Scott Rolen, Johnny Damon, and Matt Garza for Miguel Cabrera, Willy Taveras, and Carlos Zambrano?

afterward i would pick up either aaron hill or orlando hudson to start at second base... if i should do this trade, which 2nd baseman should i pick up?

No that's an awful trade.

Utley is the top 2B in baseball, end of story. He has legit 30HR/100RBI potential to go with a potential .325 avg and 30+ SB. Letting him go would be a ridiculous move.

Rolen is still a solid 3B and says he feels much healthier this year than he did last year, which means his raw power stroke might be returning. Plus he still hit well over .300 all last season even when hurting.

Damon is a run scoring machine who swipes bags and has some power and he sits at the top of the most potent offense in baseball. You'd be nuts to let him go. Matt Garza is going to be in the Twins rotation this season and could have the same success as Francisco Liriano had last season. Giving him up would be an awful move!

Cabrera is a great, but essentially you can get better production out of the Rolen/Utley combo in your lineup. Damon will out perform Taveras by a long shot. Zambrano will have a good year, but so will Garza and you'd be giving up WAY too much to gain two key players.

Tell this dude to take this trade and stick it.

I would make the trade. Just understand that every time Utley has a big game you will kick yourself . to Get Zambrano and cabrera really gives you a strong base. Garza while he will be good eventually will go hot and cold like most young SP

I would then pick up Hudson. But if you are weak at SS Hill can help you there so it kind of depends on the rest of your team.

No!

Utley is the best in a very weak position. If you are leaning toward trading him, make darn sure you are getting an above average 2B in return. Utley has 5-star potential, assuming you are in a 5x5 league. You shouldn't trade the top guy and hope to pick up some replacement on the waiver wire.

I'd look to move Rolen and Damon but not for Utley.

that depends on your other players. if you have a good pitching staff and dont need zambrano, than i would keep utley, there is no other 2b that can give you that production. taveras should not be on your team, and cabrera has had disappointing power number and with no protection in the florida lineup he should continue to suffer. you are better off with a rebounding rolen. i wouldnt make the trade unless you are in serious need of pitching.

Yes because you give up one stud (utley) and 2 good players (damon, rolen) and a young guy (garza) for 2 studs (miggy and zambrano) and a good player (taveras). Always take the deal where you get more studs. DONE DEAL
