I think I am finally breaking down and buying my son a PS2 for his B-day. He is only 7, so I am looking for people's opinions on their favorites games and why? Thanks.

Does he like the movie "Cars"? Or racing games? "Cars" for PS2 is a good game. (Well, I have it for the Gamecube, and I love it, and it is the same game for all those systems). It is one of my favorites. It is a lot of fun, there are a ton of different types of racing to do, not just circuits. And it is a failry long game. You have to think some as well.
I think that movie games are a good place to start.
My all time favorite game is Tetris, but that may be boring for a 7 year old!
Have you considered a Gamecube instead? The Gamecube has a lot of games, especially the Mario ones, like Mario Kart and Mario Party, that are appropriate for a younger kid. They have many of the movie games as well. It is also a nice, durable system that seems to last a bit better.

For a 7-year old i would say an adventure game like Lego Star Wars 1 or 2, or Kindom hearts 1 or 2.
A racing game may suit a 7yr old also.

Try Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix. Really fun driving game. And its cheap too. Only about $20. Trust me. Your son will love this game.

yeah, go for the ratchet and clank, the first for for the ps2 are rated "T" but the newest ones are E10+ so those contradict the original ratings

Rachet & Clank and Sly Cooper are great, they're for a younger crowd(so, no blood, gore, or cursing) and they are really fun.

try " kingdom of hearts II " its great ...for all ages ....disney characters !!
