In the recesses of your computer, 20-30 invisible processes run silently in the background. Some hog system resources, turning your PC into a sluggish computer. Worse yet, other useless processes harbour spyware and Trojans - violating your privacy and giving hackers free reign on your computer. WinTasks Process Library (see the link below ) is an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to know the exact purpose of every single process.

It is because you didn't opt out of programs that start when Windows starts. You need to go to the Properties of most of those processes and find the box that allows you to have the program(s) not start up with Start Up.

Also, anytime you run a resource intensive game, turn off any Process you can without crippling Windows. Processes like your Antivirus program (yes, it's risky, but the program does interfere with the game), ad aware, and other nonessential processes.

If you are not sure if the process is necessary, go to a search engine and search the process. There are processes you don't touch. Such as taskmgr and explorer.exe. Those ARE Windows.

If you are running 35 processes you are right on par with what you should be running.

How long does it stay at 100% when you open it?

What process is using that many CPU cycles? It will tell you in the task manager.

Open http://www.pcpitstop.com/
Click on "Running Programs" on left side.
It will listl what every program is for. It will also tell if the program can be disabled from starting when the computer starts.

By using MSCONFIG to disable uneeded programs from starting when the computer starts you will have more RAM available and your computer should run quicker. You can always go back and enable any program that was disabled.

scan for viruses. if those are running, it will slow your computer way down. also make sure you aren't running any other applications when you play world of warcraft. what kind of internet connection do you have? that could slow your game down a bit if it isn't the best connection. how much space do you have left on your hard drive? that will cause a problem too. e-mail me if you have any questions. good luck!

It could be you have some spyware on your machine.
Or you could have some applications that are running in the background that you don't really need to be running.

There are some awesome websites you should check out.
I suggest you check both links out and sign up for the newsletters. They are quite informative, and free.

You have a lot of processes running because your pc is running a lot of hardware/software that you may not need to run every time you turn on your pc

confident completely ok. yet attempt to shrink them because it decreases the processor speed and the pc decelerate continuously. The techniques which you at the instant are not engaged on and those ingesting optimal memory utilization could be close down and then watch the pc speed. it will enhance and you will face no 'sluggish-down' issues.
