Don't even think about it. It'd be too much work. A supercharger might be possible (from the cooper S), but I think it'd be pointless, as it would still work out cheaper to trade the car in for a cooper S. If you still want to do it you'd need... new exhaust manifold, a turbo, new inlet manifold, probably new injectors, new cylinder heads, an uprated oil pump and cooler, possibly an intercooler and the engine mapping would need to be totally re-written. You may also need to change the cooling of the engine (how the water flows round the block to cool it), and, with the increase in power you'd also need to consider the increased stress on the gearbox, clutch, engine mounts, suspension pick-ups and brakes.
Buy an S, or wait as I believe the new mini will have a turbo'd engine (developed with Peugeot and built at BMW Hams Hall near Coventry).

if you have limited knowlege on a subject like this ask a professional, there are many turbo kits on the market for a variety of cooper models. First ask yourself how much power you want to make and how much money you are willing to spend. then research kits in your performance and price range, then go to a speed shop, one that works on mini, bmw, or euro cars and tell them what you want to do and get quotes for the job, shopping around is your friend as kits can range from less than $2000 to $10,000+ depending on the performance you seek. good luck and minis are a blast when they are boosted, with that power make sure you upgrade you suspension and more importantly your brakes.
