Ok, I took a pregnancy test at 11 at night 5 days ago. The line instantly showed up and was very dark. (positive..there were 2 lines) The next morning I took another one, and it came back positive, but the line was not quite as dark. Then today, I went to birthright and got another urine test. The line was very light and could barely be seen. However, it was my 3rd time peeing for the day, and I had just drank 11 glasses of water. Could this of diluted it? I know dropping hcg levels can be signs of miscarriage and ecoptic preg. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there something wrong with my baby? (Im estimated to be at 4 to 5 weeks)

i believe hcg levels change throughout the day. My test was faint in the morning, when it is recommended to take, but in the evening the next day, it was dark and bright. If you have any bleeding, then you should be concerned. Congrats!

Water could definitely dilute the hcg level in your urine. The time of day really isn't important when you take a test as long as it has been about 4 hours since you last urinated. That way, there is a good concentration of hcg in your urine. Also different tests sometimes have different sensitivity levels. Some tests are sensitive enough to detect a level of 25, while others it might be 100. The fact that you are still getting positive test results is a good thing, especially if you haven't had any bleeding. If you are really concerned, ask your doctor to do a blood test and then another 2 days later to check the hcg levels. Also, a vaginal ultrasound can be done at 7 weeks to show the baby and heartbeat. Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and baby.

Okay don't freak out that is the last thing that you want to do... Go and buy the First Response Pregnancy Test the one that will indicate with a Yes or a No it is digital... I hate that line crap... Then in the morning before you drink anything the very first pee use it... Then if it says YES then make an appointment to see your doctor for a pelvic exam and a blood test... Once you have the results of those you can say if you are pregnant or not... Because there is such a high risk of miscarriage now an days my advise to you is that you wait till your about 2 months to 3 months before you make you announcement to the world... That's just because the first trimester can be the most dangerous... Also, make sure that you know your blood type and the blood type of the father, your body could reject the baby if you are a negative blood type and the dad a positive blood type. If that is the case talk to your doctor about it... Good Luck and I hope that everything goes well.

Go and get a blood test done. I don't know who said that HPTs don't detect pregnancy after you are 6 weeks, but that is not true. An HPT will register a positive through your entire pregnancy, and for a little while after your pregnancy. However, there are some women who for some reason do not have any HCG in their urine and the only way they find out is because of a blood test.

Positive is positive, regardless of how dark the line is. You are pregnant! Congrats!!

If you are concerned with the actual levels, tell your doc you want a blood test. The hcg levels should double every 48 hours for the first, i think its 12 weeks. Ask if you can schedule two tests a few days apart to see the increase. Also, check the web, there is a TON of info out there on the hcg level and what they should be at what point in pregnancy. Good luck.

In the Mother of All Pregnancy Book it tells you don't drink more water to make yourself pee because in doing so it dilutes the hCG hormone in your urine. Also, the urine should have been in your bladder at least 4 hours before you test to get the best results. I would go to a doctor if you are too worried... They can tell you what is up and do proper testing...

Not likely is there something wrong with the baby. I know when I drank a whole ton of water it makes it harder to detect the hcg levels in urine. It is very possible that when you took the test the first time you didn't pee for quite a while. Just hang in there and everything will turn out just fine. congrats on baby

The water DEFINITELY diluted your urine. It says right there on the box not to drink a lot of fluids before testing. You need to go to the doctor to have your blood taken so that they can check your hcg levels and make sure that they are continuing to go up.

If you used different brands of pregnancy tests, and testing at different times of the day, especially this early on... can cause different results on different tests.

no worries... call your doctor.

why don't you go and get a blood test. Too much water WILL effect the apperance of a line. You should do as the test explain "Take the test the first morning pee and don't drink a bunch of water before". This way you'll get an accurate result

You should call the doctor immediately....the fact that your lines are getting lighter is very concerning as that is a sign of ectopic which can be dangerous if not treated early enough( I just had to have my right tube removed because I had no idea and my tube ruptured causing internal bleeding) Usually before this happens you will experience lots of pain( I did not so it can happen without any pain) If between now and when you see the doctor if you start getting any kinds of pains go to the ER immediately.
